Fun! Carrie Coon's Husband Wrote a Little Play

NEW YORK, NY - File this under “cute!” Carrie Coon’s husband wrote a little stage play that's making its debut on Broadway. Mr. Carrie Coon, who uses the stage name Tracy Letts, is launching his new play The Minutes, which is about small town politics (important!).
The Minutes is not actually the first play by Coon’s Husband, who previously wrote a script called August: Osage County, about a family, which makes sense because he’s a part of Carrie Coon’s family. Write what you know! The play apparently won the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for Best Play. Go Tracy!
The Minutes was only nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. Flop era!
Can it get more adorable? It can! Coon’s Husband is also acting in the play. Double threat!
Coon’s Husband has previously acted as “someone’s dad or boss at a desk” in movies like Lady Bird, Little Women, and Ford V Ferrari. In The Minutes, Coon’s Husband will play the Mayor of the fictional town of Big Cherry; no doubt the town name is a thinly-veiled reference to the disproportionate power yielded by the cherry industry in American politics.
The Minutes also stars Jessie Mueller (Waitress, Beautiful) and Austin Pendleton (the non-Joe Pesci defense attorney from My Cousin Vinny).
Theatre fan Kyle Milligan said he came to see The Minutes because he’s a fan of HBO’s The Gilded Age and hoped to spot the actress who plays Bertha Russell in the theater. Coon currently stars in dozens of the show’s 4000 plots.
Asked if he’d like to see Coon collaborate with her husband on the show, Milligan answered “It would be awesome! I think Letts has the chops to play a butler who explains what the Boer War was and then disappear for five episodes!”
Coon and Coon’s Husband were both members of The Steppenwolf Theatre Company, where Aunt Jackie was originally created.
“Realistically though,” Milligan continued, "they’re probably going to do a production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? together and I don’t know who could stop them.”
