WICKED: FOR GOOD to Open with Public “Executionification” of Pfannee and Shenshen

LOS ANGELES - Let us be glad, let us be…shocked? Leaked script to Wicked: For Good reveals the reimagined Act Two opening centering the public “executionification” of fan-favorite characters Pfannee and Shenshen. 

“We wanted the second film to lean into the darker tone of the book,” John M. Chu said, nodding to a Glindafied guillotine. “So Elphaba becomes a bit more explicitly anti-fascist. And also Pfannee and Shenshen get blamed for some stuff and the Wizard publicly executes them right away. This is during Thank Goodness.” 

An anonymous early-test audience member queazily confirmed the new scene’s inclusion. 

“Everyone was wonderful. It was just super weird that there was like a half-hour sequence where Pfanne and Shenshen get accused of money laundering and then publicly executed,” said the viewer, glancing nervously behind him. “I guess Glinda really meant it when she said she only had one friend that mattered. The effects were practical and a few people in my theater threw up.” 

“Executionified,” clarified Winnie Holzman, emerging from the darkness. After the audience member fled, Holzman went on to say that Pfannee and Shenshen’s money-laundering plot wasn’t the only change made to expand the universe of Wicked: For Good. 

“Both of the new songs in the film are for Miss Coddle,” she added, fondly pointing to a ‘Codd-Head’ button on her lapel. “We just couldn’t have a voice like Keala’s and not let it shine. So definitely expect Miss Coddle to do a whole lot more than work the guillotine in Part Two. Also Boq and Fiyero kiss and it’s not short or dry. They’re questioning, but it’s hungry. It’s a hungry kiss. Love is love here in Oz.” 

Audience members have reported being “thrillified to bits” and “deeply unsettled” by the changes from the stage show. With rumors flying around like a tornado, we here at The Broadway Beat are preparing to be changed “for good.” <3
