Tom Francis Accidentally Walks Too Far, Ends Up Discovering the Beauty of the Met Cloisters

NEW YORK, NY — During today’s performance of Sunset BLVD, leading man Tom Francis began his routine title song loop through the St. James Theater and midtown Manhattan, but something compelled him to keep walking… all the way to the beautiful Met Cloisters in Fort Tryon Park.

“I often get lost in my performance,” claimed Francis, an avid quilter who was ecstatic to see the Cloisters' famous quilt display. “Today, however, I got confused by the street numbers and became lost in the maze of this city. All of a sudden my walk started feeling longer than normal and I found myself in awe of this gorgeous stone structure. I turned to look back at the camera, but the team was nowhere to be found.”

Kat Manderfeld, a Washington Heights-based theatre fan who works at the Cloisters, was delighted to see Francis at her place of employment.

“We got him set up with a Culture Pass and he had lots to say about our exhibits,” noted Manderfeld, while cleaning up some leftover prop blood. “He was incredibly excited for the John Singer Sargent & Paris exhibition, but I had to tell him that wasn’t until April of next year. He was absolutely enamored by the color across the garden and the paintings—probably because of all the time he spends in the greyscale world of Sunset BLVD. Love seeing someone so invested in the Cloisters!”

Jack Goodman, a camera operator, expressed his confusion toward Francis’ improvised route.

"I followed him up until 72nd street, when I realized the lost look in his eye wasn't a character choice," stated Goodman while battling through a group of drunk suburban moms back in Shubert Alley. "I’m happy for [Tom] though. Everyone deserves to witness the medieval beauty of the Cloisters. He won’t shut the fuck up about the quilts though. They’re not that cool.”

At press time, we asked Nicole Scherzinger her thoughts on the matter, but all she said was “he didn’t go far enough right for my liking.” We are still waiting to get clarification on what that means.

Tom’s behavior has been met with praise, however, with director Jamie Lloyd announcing plans for a site specific production of Hamilton at the Cloisters next spring. Francis is rumored to star.
