CHARLESTON, WV – The Wileyview Theater Company’s new immersive production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods moved into a nearby forest for rehearsals earlier this month, and nobody involved in the production has been seen since.

“Leads? Yes, I’m pretty sure my wife is a lead,” said Nico Willard, husband of the actress playing The Witch, who has not yet filed a missing persons report, and truthfully does not seem to understand the severity of the situation. “Anyway, I knew theatre was a huge time commitment, but this is a little much, you know? I guess I’m happy she’s pursuing her dream, but I would like to see her every now and then.”

Kim Hadler, the mother of the high schooler playing Little Red, also had some thoughts to share about the situation.

“I don’t know how to find my daughter– she’s missing! Now who am I supposed to ask to help me turn on the FireTV?” said Hadler, as she tried various buttons on the Wiimote she was pointing at the screen.

When we told her that Google might be able to help her out with that problem, she thanked us and then proceeded to put “how to find daughter” into the search bar.

The Broadway Beat had begun researching for this article at the beginning of the month, before anyone became lost, just because we found the immersive production interesting. Wileyview’s Creative Director, Orson Marin, had already been interviewed, but had more to say following the cast’s disappearance.

“I thought I took all the necessary precautions. I scouted out those woods beforehand, I gave you guys the compass and the map, and told you to pass it along to the director. I thought of everything,” said Marin, browsing defense attorneys online. “Assuming you guys did in fact give the director the map, everything should have been fine!”

In all the tragedy around these disappearances, there is one positive side to things. The Broadway Beat editors did tell us they would not publish a story about a regular production of Into the Woods because it wasn’t “newsworthy” enough, so it’s fortunate that something newsworthy around this production coincidentally did happen by coincidental coincidence.
