BREAKING: Audra is Mother, Contractually

by Sarah Lasko. @saraheleora.

NEW YORK, NY – Multiple news outlets have now confirmed that - with the casting of the latest Broadway revival of Gypsy - it’s official: Audra McDonald is mother, contractually.

“Although this announcement is only now being formalized, many circles have long recognized McDonald's elite status within this classification,” revealed Broadway analyst and frequent All That Chat commentator Andre Charles with a tear running down his cheek.

“Although deliberations broke down when it was discovered that some of the council had not witnessed her heart-rending performance of “Maybe (Reprise)" in the 1998 ABC television production of Annie, talks revitalized once those members acknowledged her prolific contribution to the Broadway solo album genre. I’m just grateful that the advocacy of the community has brought this much-awaited title to fruition.”

At press time, sources have confirmed that per Section III, Category IV, Amendment 64 of the contract, Audra will preemptively be awarded a seventh Tony for the role.
