NEW YORK, NY - Broadway theaters dimmed their lights Monday in memory of the relevancy of playwright David Mamet, who penned the 1984 Pulitzer Prize-winning play Glengarry Glen Ross but is more recently known for spewing hateful, conspiratorial rhetoric on Fox News.
“Mamet’s contributions to the theater were immeasurable, but ultimately his time as a public intellectual whose opinions are of value is over and frankly, has been for a while. Now he's just the personification of your uncle's latest Facebook post,” explained Broadway League representative Susan Wu while checking to see if his online writing class is still a thing. “Mamet’s gross comments about teachers being inclined to pedophilia were too disgusting for the theater community, which is wild, because we’ll put up with almost anything.”
Mamet’s Relevancy is survived by four children and his physical body.
